Experimenting

Hi. I have been experimenting today to find a way to get through the winter and still plein air paint. Obviously the cold will get me in the end.But Gouache which is my prefered medium won't dry in low temperatures so I used Alkyd on board and then to my surprise had good results using Alkyd directly on to paper with no priming. I used a limited pallet of Pthylo Blue Cd Yellow White and Alizarin Crimson. Which was a mistake? I think I`ll use the same palette that I gouache in. Lemon Yellow, burnt sienna and umber.lamp black, Cad Red Ultra Blue and Prussian Blue.
