3rd day on this rather dark Newlyn 30x30 inch oil on board. Slightly worrying that it is so dark . And the work scares me there is so much to do.

Still on the nudes. Here are two starts today.

Back to block work today. Oil on canvas. day 2 . Wooly gloves .thermal underware.( too much info) and quite franky I dont feel like painting.. Its to cooooooold    So as it`s Friday I push myself to chip away as I know from experience that chipping away works. And as this is oil and will have glazes applied later I already know that my chipping away is working. This is going to be a cracker. I might go for an early swim later today .

Not sure how this one is going to turn out. Theres much more of the figure and no background whatsoever. I guess I am practicing. Going to take my paint to drawing this week so I can understand skin tone better with a real model . I`ll take my oils and a piece of stretched paper. This is a first.

Godrevy Girl

Just altered her eyes... struggling without my prescription Vari focals.....well as long as I havn`t given her three breasts I should be ok...Although I can now see her left ear sticks out to much so I`ll change that.

My glasses have broken. Trying to finish my girl off when I can hardly see her....

Out of the blue pops this little oil on canvas.Yes she needs work, But I like her !

Now I have finished the weeks painting I can get down to some paperwork and get some prints off.

I went over the last yellow tree because I began to dilike the high tone of the yellow so I went over it.
The next time I do a tree however I will not start with a green or yellow circle for the tree shape. Coming on.......

At last. The composition is complete and I am on the home run. Just dotting I`s and crossing T`s and finishing off now.

Painting something completely different today while I wait to see where I can improve the last painting. There are as I say some great passages but there is a lot `I`m not happy with.

Digging a hole I cant really get out of. Been very bold in making dramatic changes to try and get some life into it. Of course the canvas can`t take much more and I am flagging. Maybe we should call it a truce. The last one had a great sky and hills. Maybe I`ll put that in. the very pale blue worries me.

The Passing of Time

I love the way the passing of time helps you to see.

I can see this picture is too bland. It looks like wallpaper. So today I will create some definition.

Well its coming on. Day 4. Some of it is great others look to me a bit clinical. Once all the hard slog is done I`ll scumble out bits of the middle and rework. And add people. But pleased I have managed to keep going .

And here is the little morrocan one I Might be presenting to the at the RA judges with ten million others.Is it enough.  I`ll keep my options open . Got a few weeks yet.
