Porthleven on a Friday

Amazing .While I was there a whole group of people came doing a photo shoot with this young pretty girl modelling and someone with the light reflector and all kinds of stooges assisting the very young and fashionable photographer and there I was oblivious to it all until my work was done. Wonderful.

Again I went to Porthleven only working in Gouache. It was very pleasant really and a treat to be out in the open air. I would very much like to do this in acrylic on canvas or board next time .It is a perfect spot.

Church Cove.The lizard

I went to Church cove today. It was glorious and much much darker greener place than Porthleven. It may seem a traditional way of working and that`s fine but what this does is it gives me information for future paintings in the studio. It is always important to get as much info as you can for that reason and also because the light soon changes and tiredness sets in. Anyway a good day`s work and I have come home and rather than go out again thought I would try a larger studio version which has started well.

A brief video of Porthlevan

When I got to Porthlevan at about 11 am it was pretty quite just a couple of folk walking about. I found a great spot and it just got busier and busier. People kept on coming up to chat and take a look. I just got on with it was polite but busy. . Sorry the video it is so brief I had recorded a lot more footage but it did not come out. Anyway had a cracking time and can't wait to go back.

Lillies for Godrevy

While the Easter break is here I have been quietly chipping away at oils that have not been finished. Building them up and stripping them back as you do.This one has changed so many times and is now nearly finished. I love these especially because the organic process with rich lumpy oil makes them special and visibly pleasing to the eye on the canvas.

Saltdean

I have just been away with Lorraine to Brighton, Saltdean and Tenterden to see my Mum and Dad  and Hellingly in East Sussex and I did not get much time to paint except this one which is the view from our good friends Ron and Michelle`s house in Saltdean where we stayed, it is a bit sedate I apologize but it really is the view.
It was brilliant and I would have loved to have just painted. I was itching all the time to paint but business things had to be attended to, we went to see my old framer Patrick Ireland Frames in Hellingly who I took five paintings to be properly framed up and shipped to Thompsons Gallery in Aldeburgh.

Hayle

Pretty good start for a man who`s had no sleep although the path is a problem. Tiredness. I`ll fix it tomorrow.

Hayle Towens over to St Ives

My next step will be to buy Artist quality acrylics for this type of painting. It probably isn`t necessary for my studio work as everything seems to work just fine but for out door `Plein Air` on canvas; especially on on a white ground the paint has to be top notch to get the intensity I am looking for.
