Just found this super little oil on board behind a pile of canvasses in my studio and rescued it. 16 x 24 inch. Very loose but charming I think..

I have just taken the Italian trees out of the foreground of this picture . I`ve had it in my studio for a few days and they were bothering me as they draw the eye down Having taken them out I am elated. It can breath. I think this is one of the best paintings I have ever painted.Just the shear joy of the sumptuous red and orange oil paint on the canvas.

This is coming along nicely too! I`ve painted it on Windsor and Newton ready made canvas that I bought at the Art shop. Usually I buy canvas from Bird and Davies in London that is top quality and strong because working in acrylic the canvas needs to be strong., but to my surprise and pleasure this is just as good when working in oil which I do predominantly now . It`s got a great tooth to it which is pleasing to the eye. What a surprise it`s been under my nose all this time.

This is a large 40x40 inch canvas that I have just started. I nearly abandoned it as I have done this subject before although a few years ago but decided it was ok as it`s oil . Not going to rush this ,well you can`t anyway because the oil has to dry, Will be working on detail later.Lots to come yet!

This is really starting to take shape now. I obliterated the Sunflowers because they just did not work . I`m going to let it dry for a couple of days before I start work on this again. Really itching to get at the detail on the houses and trees and to add some Tuscan firs in the foreground. This uplifts me. Its bold luscious and full of sumptuous oil without inhibition
