Its coming on. I am really really pleased with this.I think it is the best flower painting I have ever done. I started it in acrylic to lay down the turquise background and then went in to oil. I am now using glazing to get layer effects and to make it more interesting to look at .Working on the vase next. I might do some drawing for that to help me understand what I can do. Working on Angus`s painting next with the Embankment which I want to do again only using the same technique.

Day 4 or is it day 5 . I`ve lost count. This picture will be the death of me!!!! I have one or two faces nearly right the rest look weird and Jesus looks like he is freaked out by the door bell. However I can see improvement.

Before I got ill I used to teach Salsa now I just dance when I am able..I get good days and bad days mobility wise. This is a good day.
Here is me and Lorraine dancing Salsa. I tend to minimise my movements because I loose my balence but I can still turn the lady ,and my timing is still on the button.Simon and Kirsty first then us.

At the risk of boring everybody with this image again . I have gone in to oils to learn from this piece of work. I am learning how to do faces and figures better . This actually is a terrible painting. There are a lots of flaws in it. It has been badly painted. But I am hopefull it can be rescued or at least usefull for further paintings. I like the subject matter but it aint easy. I am also considering putting a take away in there. I am sure if Jesus were alive today he would have gone to subways or KFC or an Indian.

Went to the Drang Gallery in Padstow yesterday to their opening. The mayoress of Padstow was there ( a photo to follow later) and my great friends Colin and Fran Ruffell. There were some very good Damien Hirst prints of butterflies ,a snip at £(a few thousand) and really good.I would love one on my wall. . some stunning Blakes and Norman Smith originals plus a number of top quality English Artists , and of course me and Colin were there.Thats one of Colins pictures of Venice at the top there.
This is a super gallery with a great atmosphere and friendly people.

Thursday, 14 April 2011

I have just lifted the yellow arches as it was starting to look to serious. Sometimes I think I am Michelangelo and of course I am not. I am a Naive painter who hopefully paints from the heart in a fresh an vibrant manner. At least that is the definition. Painting like this doesn`t only hide the fact that I "can`t paint proper"

but liberates me and the student in me needs to remember that. I`ll be workin on the faces last.
Day3. The battle is on and it`s tiring me out. Over worked and wish I had done it in oil.Not giving up because I`m too far into it.

I have been adding pages to my book. This is one of many drawings I did in Spain when we lived there for 6 months just before my one man show in the City in London.

Following on from my first Jesus painting I wanted to do another in fresher colours. Again 40x40inches

Saturday, 2 April 2011

This is going to be hung in our local Church in Chapel Street .It is a huge 40x40inch. Bob the vicar came rounhd this morning to have a look and likes it. Hey Hey!
eeyaeeya Ohh I don`t know!!!!!!!Maybe this is why I went into the darker colours ,
it just looks shallow. But all that work I`ve put into it.
