This is a little oil 16x16 inch which is again not finished and I don't have any time left before my holiday to finish it. I really like this . It came from an intense session . I even signed it but its not finished yet. So it will breath and wait for my arrival so I can in good time finish it. I love coming back to good pieces and seeing them with fresh eyes.

I have been ignoring the washing and cleaning up which is my duty as a `modern man`to get another picture done for the Auctioneers. I`m bringing it in the house now and am going to have a rest so I can live with it. I think there is a bit in the middle that needs changing and maybe the hill on top. Its of Newlyn Fishing Port. Maybe something in the jug. emmmm!Maybe the sea at the bottom is the wrong colour.Bring out the fish.Add detail.

I have put two paintings in to be auctioned. These were the only two good ones I had left and I have few days to exchange one before they are all published and go to print. W H Lane is the auctioneers from Penzance. They are doing a best of the west auction . They are an art only auctioneers and have a very good reputation. These are the two I am putting in.

whoohay! Actually managed to do some studio work today.
I read in a Forum that showing unfinished work on a blog was unprofessional.
I think this is silly.

Newlyn Fisherman
This picture is similar to the last but is my version of Fisherman at Altea but Fisherman at Newlyn which is the fishing port we can just see from our top windows. It is presented in a dark brown polished tray frame and is one of those pictures that to me is special . Its only small 50x60cms and quite unique.

Hopefully soon I`ll be able to put up all my old work on my web site. I was going though some of it today and it`s very interesting to me to see how I got to where I am now. Not much richer but definitely settled in to the Naive style that was always there but took time to come out. Here is a picture from 97 of Calella near Barcelona .The right of the picture is taken from a photo but the left is made up and shows the naivety coming through.

and really...finally we have stick insects. there are at least a hundred in this bush in the front garden. They are New Zealand in Origin. Came over on ships via the Scillies. These are two little fellas about 5 inches in length.I love these little creatures. The ones in the dead brown bush actually change colour to brown.
and finally. I have kept this a secret. You know when you get ill you don`t like to talk about it.. I have `Devics` which I got e few years back. I was paralyzed at the time and have made a slightly embarrassing recovery and stayed that way. Anyway we have had a ramp put in just in case I have to go into a wheel chair again. God forbid. The ramp look great and not hospitally at all.
I was looking for a painting to go on the wall of our new room. I found this. It has been sitting in my studio for a couple of years . I sell the print on my web site www.alanfurneaux.com but had neglected the original. It looks really bright and cheerful on our wall and I`ve given it a new lease of life to be seen and appreciated by all .I have described it on my web as bustling st ives but its more early morning st ives before all the tourists wake up and there is this pristine light you get down here in cornwall.

I`ve been commissioned to do a little sunflowers painting. This is 20x24" . They wanted the sunflowers to be the predominant feature. I have done this many times but its still tricky .When this is framed it will make a stunning feature in a room .I might just change the colour of the sun and that sunflower up on the right.
