Christmas
With Christmas coming up I thought it would be nice to do some Xmas paintings. One will lead to another and hopefully something good will come out. This is my first one. It`s about people coming home for Xmas.I`ve started another but it`s so dark you cant see it in the evening so I am going to have to lighten it tomorrow. There are however some good themes developing.

too damp!
What a few days we have had .Rain Rain and more rain. Painting is hard when it`s like this not just the greyness of it all but the dampness in the air . My paints are taking forever to dry and when I think I can go over something I discover its still wet in places ruining the effects. Its magic when it happens and frustrating when it doesn`t.Try again tomorrow I suppose.
I sold a picture over the weekend in Blackheath London, a big one with Sunflowers on so I have been buoyed up by that sale, and I sent out 4 small paintings to different Galleries in London all really good ones so I am optimistic right now. Just wish the rain would stop.

St Ives Porthminster Beach
Do you remember all the trauma of getting on the Beach at Porthminster Beach is St Ives in the spring and getting my painting kit out. All the negative self doubt.Having to drag ,myself out of the studio. Well I`m glad I did because if I didn`t I would never have painted these brightly coloured little pieces with all the people and the Cafe and the boats in the distance.

new painting
I`ve started a new painting of Penzance Sea front Promenade. It`s coming on nicely and I am looking forward to finishing it tomorrow. I like the darker colour of the sea with the red sails of the Luggers.During the spring just gone I sat down there with all my painting kit and did an oil of all the people passing by It was very crude in style .This is from the memory of that day. I sat in the shelter facing the sea and people just walked past .I had an instant to capture their likeness but it`s still fresh in my mind.

St Ives
This picture came back from the Curzon Gallery so I thought I would give it a little more life so I put some flowers in ,painted the Jug a little differently so it looks like it can stand up,Re painted the shutter on the left and brought the Lemon and the house on the hill down to balance and added a Green Sun.I Know I wasn`t supposed to go in the studio today as I have Internet work to do re building my web site but I just couldn't`t resist. I can resist anything but temptation .

internet marketing
Hello all you blog followers. Today and tomorrow I will be on an Internet course for web designers and businesses. It is a bit of a high climb but I am enjoying it.It seems that these days the place to market yourself is on the Internet and not Trade Fairs and that has changed in the last couple of years. I have to admit it`s very techi and I start to glaze over after lunch but I am doing my best. Hopefully I`ll have a nice shinny new website for my hard work. So Sorry theres no painting today. Business and painting have to go together and that means spending time away from the brush.

trip to London
Apologies for not posting for the last couple of days I have been to pick up work from London. I sold this one of Barcelonetta when I arrived which was good. I took the remaining work from The Curzon Gallery to the Blackheath Gallery. They also took the Plein air work so it will be interesting to see how they go. Its been a hell of a drive from Penzance to London and across town and I am exhausted.
