evening

Just another 1/2 hr in the studio before I cook dinner for the Family. It looks really bare and unfinished doesn`t it.

day1

I thought it would be interesting to follow a painting from start to finish and see if there is anyone out there who wants to comment or just follow.Constructive comments only please. It may be that the painting will work out or it might not but its bound to change over the next day or so.This is Tuesday and is my first day in the studio this week so its like a monday and I know from experience that Mondays are struggle days. Here Go`s

Stunners or try hards??

Well I completely went over that last picture .Still not sure about this one . The thing is .Am i playing to the gallery or is this authentic or lazy authentic? Emm!Sometimes you need a break away for a while to get a fresh eye on what your doing. When I come back from holidays and look at my work in my house I cvan see instantly if there stunners or try hards.

out of the blue

This isn`t finished as I might put some people in it. Not sure where this came from . I`ve been working on another small painting and picked up an unfinished piece to fill in time and as time went on decided it was going well. Its very pail and your screen won`t pick up the subtle blues which is where the beauty of this painting is especially the duck egg blue of the first boat.

Flowers

This is a very thickly painted oil ..I have painted two of these Flowers and they have both been produced as cards and prints for `Art Cards Cornwall` a very sucessful little publisher working out of Newlyn specializing in Cornish Artists. There are so many exceptional artists in this area .

Marrakech

Not sure if this will fit into a Cornish Gallery but I had an urge I couldn`t resist. I don`t just do Cornwall you know!. And every painting I do I have personally visited the place and at least had a cup up tea there in this case mint tea at the `Cafe Du France` which looks over the Square at the entrance to the Souks with a view across the skyline to the Atlas mountains in the distance.. I`ve been to Marrakech twice and love the the fact that it so different from anywhere i`ve been before.

Studio

This is my studio from the fish pond and here it is inside. Its a bit cluttered and I like the light to stay outside so it doesn`t bounce around the room. Can you see the Bottle Brush tree

Surprize

I `m always surprized at what comes out in the painting day. I started with a half finished very reddy painting which when I sat down this morning to finish off just looked at it and said` no` `this isn`t best painting` `and might just be boring to finish off like treading water` so I`m really pleased things got changed and I allowed myself that freedom to do my best.and here is the result,

woops! cooler again

I had to change this picture .Its one I did a few days ago.it had 3 daisies in it but I took a dislike to them and have re arranged the painting to appease my eyes. yes its cool rather than a rise in temperature. Thats how painting goes.

Over the Bay

I`ve had a yearning to do a Blue picture for a while now and I`ve been working on this for 3 days taken bits out and putting bits in .I`ve done this type of subject many times before so its hard to keep it original. The only way I know is to do it when the yearning is there and struggle.

And here is a little flower painting. Its very twee but it rolled off the brush and looks great on the wall.

Nice one

AAAAH! At last I`m painting something for me.

Went for a swim at St Ives Leisure Centre yesteday and took this shot. Sky`s windy and the Sea choppy and dark and still the little town of St Ives looks a picture.

Fish and Chips in St Ives

When I started this I was unsure as the colours were muted . I like strong colours but every time I applied strong colours I took a dislike to it so I persisted with the lighter touch. Its not quite done yet but its what I had in my mind to produce. The Fish and Chips well thats what St Ives is all about isn`t it.
