I went over the last yellow tree because I began to dilike the high tone of the yellow so I went over it.
The next time I do a tree however I will not start with a green or yellow circle for the tree shape. Coming on.......

Painting something completely different today while I wait to see where I can improve the last painting. There are as I say some great passages but there is a lot `I`m not happy with.

Digging a hole I cant really get out of. Been very bold in making dramatic changes to try and get some life into it. Of course the canvas can`t take much more and I am flagging. Maybe we should call it a truce. The last one had a great sky and hills. Maybe I`ll put that in. the very pale blue worries me.

Well its coming on. Day 4. Some of it is great others look to me a bit clinical. Once all the hard slog is done I`ll scumble out bits of the middle and rework. And add people. But pleased I have managed to keep going .

This is really working as an Artist. It`s almost painful. Just how it is going into work on a monday. Got to get on with it. It got so bad and messy I reverted to an old photo to get me started again.

I want to submit for the Royal Academy summer show this year.
I havn`t done this before probably because the rejection would have been unbearable. and because I`ve bee so busy selling work I`ve had nothing spare although the first excuse is nearer the truth.

So I`m doing a yellow tree a Moroccan painting and and blocky takes weeks to make one.

Here is the yellow tree unfinished . The tree is bigger. And the detail on the leaves needs to be layered.

It may seem like I havnt` done much but the tree has been repainted 3 times to make the background stand out more. In the evening this painting just merges into one colour and I needed more contrast.

I`ve arrived back pretty much where I started. Painting a blue on blue painting isn`t easy. Yet I love this blue. And on the wall it looks very spiritual. Detail and Birds are the next step.

Ive had this large 40x40inch oil going on for what seems like forever and finally finished it today. It`s of Newlyn and is going to a private buyer. I hope they like it.. Can`t do much more this side of Christmas. Looking foreward to a complete break.

This little Gem went to London and didn`t sell. I rolled it up and ignored it for a year found it again and thought how could I. So I framed it and had it professionally photographed.
And it has Sold. To Daphne Stephenson the Director of the Association of British Primitive Naive artists.

I love this image and truely am sorry to see her go.But it`s going to a good home

A part of my day revolves around making prints and selling them When a print is made it has to be carefully handled as the ink takes a day to dry. Coiming up to Christmas I am rather busy with this. There is also the admin side. The promotional side .Having paintings proffessionally photographed . Wrapping prints , Shipping them . Cleaning up . It amazes me that I am able to get any painting done.

The oil is taking time so I`m not showing that yet. It`s become a little heavy. So I`ve started this little acrylic to lighten things up. You can see how I put my figures in . Just plop them in at first.Two more days I imagine should do it. This is a Commission for one of our Salsa Friends.

I have had this massive 30x40 inch Last Supper in my studio for a year now unable to finish it. There was lots of complicated builldings and landscape where the sky and the angels are. As you can see I`ve torn all that up for the angels in a flurry of destructive energy.
This is very strange as I have had a period of not going to Church .
I still find this subject endlessly fascinating. The belief in something `other` is still strong in me.

I have started a new Venture to promote and sell Naive Art below is the Logo. I am having it made by Marcus a highly respected Web Designer in Cornwall.

I was doing the web site myself but realized it needed a Professional as I was spending ALL my time on the computer fixing errors.

There will be a Launch in the Spring .

Liz has left a comment saying " was all this done in one day". Well it was actually done in a couple of hours.. I`m not bragging this is normal for most professional artists to crack on. The hard part is to re-arrange it all and put it all in place. That will take days of re writes and re writes. as songwriters would say. Slowly building up bits that work mostly through happy accident and hard work.

With my Alan Furneaux head on I am finishing off pieces to go to London. My studio looks nice with a few pieces I have collected over the Summer especially an Angus painting which I can see every time I walk in. As you know I don`t like to let anything go unless I am completely happy with it hence the extensive work on this one. The sea colour for example has been changed many times.and the buildings..well.. I `ve lost count of the changes.

Have been so busy with paperwork-and trying to work out where I am with my painting. Again I have been thinking I might have a pseudonym so I can keep on with this darker toned work. I can`t seem to marry the two moods, happy and melancholy. I am sure at some stage I will want to paint in cheerful colours, but not right now. Managed to make a start on this done from one of my sketches.

There is a hawthorne tree at the bottom of our garden . The cats love it because thrushes, sparrows, bullfinches etc like it. it has berries that are very red.

This is very Naive and much more enjoyable to paint than the last one.

At last this picture has submitted. Really pleased. The paint on the canvas is at that wonderful thick glassy sticky stage where it looks like it has really been worked, and it has. The imagery is making sense to me . All it needs now is a couple of days on simmer on one of my walls so I can make final adjustments. Who say`s I should paint in oil... When I paint like this acrylic is a marvelous paint.

Still reworking this picture from a couple of blogs ago. So nothing really new. Got an idea for another tree bubbling away. Only a Hawthorn tree. Summer is such a funny time. I`m not getting into the studio and having long periods so consequentially the productivity gets compromized. Then again the children are off and the beach is calling and life is so short and precarious. I wonder if instead of trying to get some control of my work I could be letting go of it instead.
